ABOUT JUSTIN WEST:
Justin West isn’t just a small-town boy… anymore that is. Praised for his flawless live shows, engagement with fans, and his dedication to the music industry full-time, Justin provides the full package. He writes and performs with his own band, taking his music on a path through festivals, bars, and concert halls. Selling his shotgun for his first guitar when he was just fifteen, he has now opened across the east coast for acts such as Kane Brown, Scotty McCreery, Chris Janson, Dylan Scott, Granger Smith, Canaan Smith, and Parmalee. Additionally, he has sold out multiple hometown venues such as City Limits in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the Junction in Benson, North Carolina, including high-profile slots on Halloween and New Years Eve.
With a voice resembling a mixture of Chris Janson, Granger Smith, and Brantley Gilbert, Justin is a natural. His hit single “Baby Lie” reached 21st on New Music Weekly, has over 10,000 spins on the radio, and was featured on CMT's top music videos.
I know most are used to a long, well-worded bios, typed up by someone to make an artist sound proper. That’s not me. I'm far from proper. My name is Justin West, and this is my story so far.
I was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina not many have heard of. We don’t have big buildings or fancy things. As a matter of fact, we only have two stoplights in the entire town. That was okay though because, for everything we lacked, we had something better. That little town is full of people who still say "yes ma'am" and "no sir". It's full of people who care about their neighbors, family, and friends. I grew up with an older sister, a bunch of fox dogs, and two parents who thought I could do anything. I was your typical small-town boy. All I thought about was hunting, fishing, girls, and baseball.
Lord knows… all I could think about was baseball. At that time, I thought I was going to be the next Chipper Jones (of course I chose him because I’m a Brave’s fan). It wasn’t until I was fifteen I decided I wanted to play guitar. One day I decided to go down to a local music shop and trade a shotgun for my first guitar. I sat in my room, taught myself chords, and started learning every George Strait, Travis Tritt, Keith Whitley, and Brantley Gilbert song I could find. It became my passion, and by the time I was sixteen, I began playing shows in different bars and any place that would have me.
It wasn't long after I started playing that I joined different cover bands and soon realized I wanted to be my own artist and sing my own songs. In 2015, my senior year of high school, my brother-in-law and I decided to see if I had a chance. We formed a band. We then began playing anywhere that would let us perform. It wasn't until 2017 we started to gain traction. Opening across the east coast for acts such as Kane Brown, Scotty McCreery, Chris Janson, Dylan Scott, Granger Smith, Canaan Smith, and Parmalee, everything has started to take off, and I’m ready for it. My first hit single “Baby Lie” was even featured on CMT’s top music videos (and is still trending!).
I'm not sure what’s in store, but I'm loving every minute of the ride. Music has become my life, and I am excited for everyone to hear what my songs have to say. I want to set my small-town roots in everyone I encounter. With the first EP expected to come out in the spring of 2019, I can't wait for it to be heard. I am just a small-town kid with a big-time dream and I write about what I know and what I’ve lived through. These songs represent who I am and the way I see things, and I thank everyone who has supported me along the way!
